One billion Africans remain unconnected to mobile internet - NCC leads search for solution

Nearly one billion Africans do not use mobile internet despite living within broadband coverage, according to Nigerian Communications Ministry representative Ahmed Mohammed Alsukun at an African Telecommunication Union (ATU) meeting hosted by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). Alsukun, along with ATU Secretary General John Omo and Administrative Council Chairperson Nonkqubela Jordan-Dyani, emphasized the need to bridge this gap through affordability, digital skills, and regional collaboration. The meeting also prepares for the International Telecommunication Union Presidential Conference 2026 in Doha.
