DRC: UDPS/Tshisekedi disowns Fils Mukoko after threats to arm young people against Westerners in Kinshasa

The UDPS/Tshisekedi condemned member Fils Mukoko’s threats to distribute weapons, including at universities, and his announcement of a sit-in outside the Belgian Embassy in Kinshasa. In a statement on October 21, the party disavowed any involvement, said Mukoko holds no position within it, and reaffirmed its commitment to non-violence, according to Secretary-General Augustin Kabuya. Mukoko, director general of Kinshasa’s sanitation authority, also faces an 88-day media ban imposed by the CSAC and a judicial investigation ordered by the justice minister.
