Osun: Police order suspension of political activities in Oriade LG

The Osun State Police Command has advised all political parties, candidates and supporters to suspend planned political gatherings, rallies, campaigns and processions in Oriade Local Government Area, citing credible intelligence reports and security concerns. The directive was issued on Tuesday by Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abiodun Ojelabi after a peace meeting convened by the Commissioner of Police could not hold. A rally scheduled by the Accord party in Ijebu-Jesa for Wednesday, June 10, 2026, was reportedly opposed by the APC, leading to tensions. The police ordered the postponement of all political activities to prevent any breach of peace.
