Where are the preparations for the general population census

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the government is preparing for the second General Population and Housing Census after more than 40 years without reliable data. Population estimates vary between 90 million and 120 million inhabitants, complicating the development of effective public policies. Jean-Pierre Mapual Mandjumba, chief statistician, discussed the importance of this census during the Okapi Service broadcast on April 3, 2026.
