On June 17, 2026, Burkina Faso's media regulator, the Superior Council of Communication (CSC), fined Canal+ 50 million FCFA for failing to provide free and unconditional access to RTB channels to subscribers, including after subscription expiry. This requirement was part of an agreement signed on February 14, 2025. The CSC has given Canal+ 30 days to comply, threatening further sanctions if not. The decision follows a series of crackdowns on international media including RFI, France 24, BBC Africa, and Voice of America.
