2026 Amending Finance Bill: Takku Wallu Sénégal criticizes government management and explains its abstention

The Takku Wallu Sénégal parliamentary group will maintain its abstention on the 2026 amended finance bill after the National Assembly’s finance committee rejected it on October 23. It cites a 340 billion CFA franc drop in state revenue, 451 billion fewer CFA francs expected from the Economic and Social Recovery Plan, and a 555 billion reduction in public investment, alongside a deficit estimated at 7.6% of GDP. The group also criticizes plans for tougher tax enforcement and tensions between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. It says Pastef’s rejection of a bill drafted and defended by Sonko and later promulgated by Faye raises questions about the parliamentary majority’s coherence.
