Military Pensions Board chair vows to end payment delays

New Military Pensions Board chairman Major General Julius Ehioze Osifo has pledged to speed up pensions, gratuities and death-benefit payments to retired military personnel and families of deceased service members. Taking office on Wednesday, he said he would remove bureaucratic bottlenecks, introduce modern technology and streamline claims processing. Osifo warned that delays in death benefits for families of soldiers killed in action could damage troop morale and dishonour the fallen. He also plans to improve coordination with military services and government agencies so legitimate beneficiaries receive their entitlements promptly.
