Russia: President Suluhu Hassan receives honorary doctorate from Patrice Lumumba University

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan received an honorary doctorate from the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University (RUDN) in Moscow on June 4, 2026. During the ceremony, she noted that over 5,000 Tanzanians have studied in the Soviet Union and Russia, now working in health, engineering, education, diplomacy, and defense. This visit is the first by a Tanzanian president to Russia since Julius Nyerere in 1969.
