Trump Announces Putin–Zelensky Meeting, but Gives No Date or Location

Donald Trump said on October 28, 2026, that a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky would be organized “very soon,” claiming progress with Russia and Ukraine. He gave no date, location, or format and did not say whether he would attend. Neither Kyiv nor Moscow had publicly confirmed agreement to the meeting. Trump had made a similar suggestion in August 2025, but the two leaders have not met face to face since the Normandy-format summit in Paris on December 9, 2019.
