Governors, senators end accountability standoff

Governors and senators have ended months of confrontation over county oversight following a closed-door meeting. An agreement was reached requiring devolved government chiefs to appear before Senate watchdog committees, effectively ending a boycott that threatened funding to the units. Council chairman Ahmed Abdullahi agreed to drop the conditions that had led to the boycott, paving the way for renewed engagement.
