ADC crisis: Aregbesola appeals court judgment

Rauf Aregbesola, National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has appealed the Federal High Court judgment that nullified the emergence of the party’s David Mark-led leadership. He argues that the court lacked jurisdiction over disputes concerning his appointment and resolutions from the party’s 99th National Executive Committee meeting, and challenges its ruling that Nafiu Gombe’s tenure remained valid. Aregbesola asks the Court of Appeal to set aside the November 5 judgment or, if it upholds the lower court’s jurisdiction, send the affected claims back for a hearing before another judge. He has also sought a stay of execution of Orders 7 and 8 while his appeal is pending.
