Since April 11, 2026, access to drinking water has been severely disrupted in Douala due to the shutdown of production at the Yato plant for electrical network repairs. The most affected neighborhoods include Bonabéri, Bépanda, Deido, and New Bell, forcing residents to travel long distances for water. In response, water trucks are being deployed to supply the hardest-hit areas, but this is not enough to alleviate the concerns of the population facing recurring shortages.
