People flood Madrid streets to see Pope Leo’s flower-carpeted procession

Pope Leo XIV held an open-air Mass for 1.2 million people in Madrid, honoring Spain's tradition of flower carpets for Corpus Christi. He arrived on Saturday and urged unity and an end to polarization. The half-kilometer procession route featured 16 floral carpets using 30,000 flowers, mostly in the yellow and white of the Holy See. The pope carried a gilded monstrance over the carpets as children dropped petals.
