Peru: Electoral Dispute Escalates with Slow Ballot Counting

More than 52,000 voters were allowed to vote on Monday after ballot delivery issues disrupted the election. Supporters of Rafael López Aliaga demanded the resignation of Piero Corvetto, the head of the electoral authority, as the counting continued for a third day in Lima. Partial results, covering 77% of the counted ballots, showed Keiko Fujimori leading with 16.86%, followed by Rafael López Aliaga and Jorge Nieto.
