Police arrest 8 officers for kidnapping, armed robbery, other offences

Eight police officers have been arrested for offences including extortion, kidnapping, and armed robbery in Rivers State. Police spokesperson Anthony Okon Placid stated that the arrests were the result of intelligence-led investigations into serious criminal misconduct involving both serving and dismissed personnel. The officers are accused of abusing their authority by forming a criminal network for extortion and robbery, including unlawfully intercepting citizens on Igbo Etche Road.
