Ebola risk high inside DR Congo, no pandemic emergency – WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda does not represent a global pandemic emergency, although the risk is high. WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus reported nearly 600 suspected cases of the Ebola Bundibugyo virus and 139 suspected deaths in DRC. WHO teams are collaborating with community leaders in Ituri province to help prevent wider transmission.
