Jigawa court begins hearing on APC House of Reps primary election petition

The Federal High Court in Dutse has begun hearing a suit filed by House of Representatives aspirant Elyakub Nabayi, challenging the APC primary election that produced Hussaini Adamu Jabo as the party's candidate for the Hadejia/Auyo/Kafin Hausa federal constituency. Counsel for the plaintiff, Barrister Zaharadden Jamilu, alleged irregularities and electoral malpractice in three wards. Counsel for the APC and defendants, Barrister Baffa Alasan, argued the primary was conducted in line with electoral guidelines. The court adjourned the case to July 2, 2026, for both sides to present witnesses.
