Ligue 1: Étoile du Congo stun FC Les Aigles du Congo in season opener

AS Étoile du Congo beat FC Les Aigles du Congo 1-0 on Tuesday, October 20, at Kinshasa’s Stade Tata Raphaël in the opening round of Ligue 1. Promoted Étoile scored the only goal in the 24th minute through Totala Ototala, catching last season’s runners-up off guard. The Aigles pressed for an equalizer in the second half, but Étoile’s defense held firm until the final whistle. Étoile claimed its first three points of the season, while FC Les Aigles du Congo will look to recover in the next round.
