Lassa fever cases rise to 1,035, deaths hit 252 - NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) reported 14 new confirmed cases of Lassa fever, bringing the total to 1,035. The latest cases were recorded between August 10 and August 16 in Ondo, Bauchi, Edo, and Benue states. The cumulative death toll has reached 252, with a case fatality rate of 24.4%, up from 18.6% in 2025. Individuals aged 21 to 30 years remain the predominant age group affected by the disease.
