Qatar earn first ever World Cup point with late goal

Qatar earned their first ever World Cup point by drawing 1-1 with Switzerland in their Group B opener. Boualem Khoukhi scored a header in the fourth minute of injury time to cancel out Breel Embolo's first-half penalty for Switzerland. Qatar, appearing in only their second finals, had two warm-up matches cancelled due to the war in the Middle East. Coach Julen Lopetegui took charge of his first World Cup match at age 59.
