2027: Goronyo abandoned PDP nine months ago — Sokoto chairman

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, Hon. Hayatu Tafida Aminu, stated that the party's former state chairman, Muhammad Bello Aliyu Goronyo, abandoned the PDP about nine months ago. In a resignation letter dated August 30, 2026, Goronyo formally announced his withdrawal from the PDP before being appointed as Director-General of the campaign organization for the ADC governorship candidate in Sokoto, Manir Muhammad Dan'Iya. Aminu described this resignation as a formalization of a situation already known in the state's political circles.
