Rivers Crisis: Tinubu Assures Fubara He Won’t Regret Choosing Peace

At an APC campaign rally in Port Harcourt, President Bola Tinubu thanked Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for respecting his intervention and the wisdom of political elders in easing the crisis. Tinubu assured him that he would not regret choosing peace. The crisis began in October 2023 amid a dispute between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, and led Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in March 2025, suspending the governor for six months. Fubara and Wike have since taken part in reconciliation efforts, including a meeting in Port Harcourt in October.
