Spain becomes the first NATO country to purchase a Turkish military aircraft

Spain has signed a contract to acquire up to 45 supersonic training aircraft HÜRJET, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries. This contract, valued between 2.4 and 3.3 billion euros, was officially confirmed at a defense fair in Madrid in 2025. The first units are expected in 2028, one year after their entry into service in Turkey, and will replace the F-5M used by the Spanish Air Force for 55 years.
