Nigeria: 386 terrorists convicted in Abuja, US hails major advancement

The Federal High Court in Abuja convicted 386 terrorists on April 10 after a four-day collective trial. Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi announced that out of 508 defendants, 8 were released and 2 acquitted, with sentences ranging from five to twenty years to life imprisonment. The United States praised these convictions as a major advancement in the fight against extremism and has increased its security assistance to Nigeria with a $413 million funding for 2026.
