Rabe Abubakar: Kidnapped Nigerian retired general dies in captivity

Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who served as Nigerian army spokesman from 2015 to 2017, has died in captivity after being kidnapped along with his wife in Katsina state on May 30. The military announced his death, but his wife's whereabouts remain unknown. No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, which is blamed on criminal gangs active in northwestern Nigeria.
