DRC: at least 69 dead after attack by community militia in the Northeast

An attack by the Codeco militia in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo resulted in at least 69 deaths, mostly civilians. Community violence in Ituri province, rich in gold, has intensified, fueled by conflicts between the Lendu community, defended by Codeco, and the Hema community. The situation was worsened by an attack from the Convention for Popular Revolution (CRP) against Congolese armed forces, leading to retaliatory actions by Codeco.
