Regional Integration: ECOWAS Launches a Series of Reflections to Facilitate Trade

On April 27, 2026, ECOWAS launched a series of activities in Abidjan aimed at accelerating regional integration, promoting investments, and facilitating the free movement of people and goods. Albert Siaw-Boateng emphasized the importance of mobility and food security within the framework of the African Union's Agenda 2063. Five thematic meetings will gather experts and policymakers to address common challenges, including migration management and migrant protection. The extension of the biometric national identity card is being considered to streamline movement in West Africa.
