Return of household waste in Abidjan: Angry, Ouattara puts pressure on Mambé

During the Council of Ministers on June 3, 2026, President Alassane Ouattara instructed Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé to provide regular updates on the resurgence of household waste in Abidjan. The subject was addressed following an emergency meeting on dysfunctions at the Kossihouen waste treatment center. Waste piles were observed in several districts. Minister Amédée Kouakou initiated emergency measures to restore the situation within 72 hours.
