Court declares political parties’ diaspora chapters illegal, nullifies UK Congress

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama has declared diaspora chapters of Nigerian political parties illegal and nullified the All Progressives Congress (APC) party congress held in the United Kingdom. Justice Peter Kekemeke ordered the transfer of over N30 million generated from form sales by the APC to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The court ruled that such chapters are unconstitutional and unknown to Nigerian law.
