NUPRC to open bidding for 40 oil and gas blocks on November 20

Nigeria’s upstream petroleum regulator, the NUPRC, will open its bidding portal for 40 oil and gas blocks on November 20, 2026. Chief Executive Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan invited international investors, citing improved security, attractive fiscal terms and incentives to lower operating costs. She credited the investment-climate reforms to the 2021 Petroleum Industry Act and executive orders by President Bola Tinubu, and said at least four licensing rounds had succeeded since 2021. Nigeria has an estimated 215 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves and is counting on infrastructure projects, including the Nigeria-Morocco and Trans-Sahara pipelines, to expand supply and serve regional and international markets.
