Kenyan marathon runner Sabastian Sawe was awarded Ksh 8 million by President William Ruto for breaking the world record at the London Marathon, finishing in 1:59:30. Ruto presented two cheques worth Ksh 5 million and Ksh 3 million to Sawe at the State House in Nairobi. Additionally, Sawe received a customized number plate with his record time and was allowed to choose a vehicle fully funded by the state.
