Russia hits Kyiv bridge as Germany’s Merz visits Ukraine’s capital

Russia struck a key bridge in Kyiv as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived to meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The unannounced visit, marked by sirens and explosions, aimed to demonstrate Germany’s support amid increasing Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities. Merz emphasized the need for support for Ukraine and discussed a potential joint production of drones and weapons with Germany. The visit followed Russia’s warning for foreign diplomats to leave Kyiv to avoid danger.
