Rwanda plans curbs on under-16s’ access to social media

Rwanda is planning legal changes to restrict access to social media for children under 16 to protect them from inappropriate content. The Education and ICT ministries note that 46% of children under 16 access social media via smartphones, with 30 to 35% encountering unsuitable content. The government is also urging parents to encourage outdoor activities to support children's physical and mental development.
