US extradites Sedina Tamakloe, a former Ghanaian official, for corruption

Sedina Tamakloe Ationu, former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), was extradited from the United States to Ghana on June 9, 2026. Convicted in absentia in 2024 to 10 years in prison for theft and causing financial loss of 90 million Ghanaian cedis (over $6 million), she had traveled to the US in 2021 for medical reasons and did not return. A federal court in Nevada approved the extradition in 2025. Upon arrival in Accra, she was placed under security custody before being transferred to prison to serve her sentence.
