In Syria’s Jobar, locals struggle to rebuild their destroyed homes

In Jobar, a suburb of Damascus, Ahmad, a Syrian in his mid-30s, points to his grandfather's house destroyed during the 13-year war. About 95% of buildings were destroyed between 2012 and 2018 when the area was held by rebels. A tunnel network nicknamed the 'Bermuda Triangle' was dug by the opposition. After the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024, some residents have returned to visit.
