Thailand: Boy Killed by Family Pet Monkey

On June 6, 2026, in Nakhon Si Thammarat province in southern Thailand, a 7-year-old boy died after being bitten by a macaque kept as a family pet since 2022. Despite being rushed to Sichon Hospital, he succumbed to severe injuries, including a bite to the chest that pierced a vital organ. After the tragedy, the grandfather released the monkey, but authorities tracked it down and sedated it with a dart gun, reigniting debate over keeping wild animals as pets.
