Salva Kiir Sacks Mawien Ariik as South Sudan’s Internal Security Bureau Chief. The Fourth Dismissal in 18 months

South Sudan's President Salva Kiir Mayardit dismissed Major General Mawien Ariik as Director General of the Internal Security Bureau. He recalled General Akec Tong Aleu, who held the same position for four months in late 2024. The decree, broadcast on the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation, also removed two deputy chiefs across the National Security Service bureaus, marking the fourth dismissal in the Internal Security Bureau in eighteen months.
