Saworoide veteran actor Kola Oyewo passes on at 80

Veteran actor and theatre icon Dr. Kola Oyewo, best known for his role in the classic movie Saworoide, has passed away at age 80. His death was announced on June 13, 2026 by fellow actor Kunle Afod via Instagram. Oyewo had revealed in April 2026 his battle with prostate enlargement, which had limited his career. Born March 27, 1946 in Oba-Ile, he began acting in 1964 and featured in Saworoide, Sango, Koseegbe, and Super Story, while teaching at several universities.
