Tens of thousands of children in Kenya's arid north could drop out of school due to a Ksh6.6 billion budget cut to the school feeding program. The National Council for Nomadic Education in Kenya requires Ksh8.3 billion annually to sustain the program, but the government has allocated only Ksh1.7 billion. NACONEK CEO Harun Yussuf warned that without these meals, the enrollment gains made over the years could quickly unravel.
