In Kasaï-Oriental, only 35% of children have been registered at civil status in the past five years, according to the network La Voix des Oubliés and the NGO Save the Children. This low rate is attributed to the lack of registration records in several urban areas. Governor Jean-Paul Mbuebue urged respect for children's rights and encouraged parents to systematically register their children within 90 days of birth, in accordance with the child protection law.
