Africa deploying unmanned aircraft to protect marine precincts

Africa needs to protect its coastlines and marine precincts, and Tshegofatso Ramachela from the University of Pretoria suggests using drones to enhance maritime security. While drones cannot fully replace traditional maritime forces, they can act as force multipliers. However, technological and financial challenges, along with legislative gaps, complicate their deployment. Countries like Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, and Seychelles are already using these unmanned systems to monitor their waters.
