Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront plans a new EDITION hotel and superyacht facilities at Quay 7 to attract more international private yachts. At the African Boating Conference, chief executive Graham Wood outlined the precinct’s ambitions as 36 superyachts longer than 24 metres visited Southern Africa in 2025, up from 14 in 2019. BOATPro research presented at the conference put the average visiting yacht length in the region at 60 metres, compared with about 34 metres globally. A superyacht worth $50 million could generate between $105,000 and $330,000 in local spending during a two-week visit.
