Ouagadougou: Apollinaire Compaoré, head of Telecel Faso, has passed away

Apollinaire Compaoré, a Burkinabé businessman, passed away on May 14, 2026, at the age of 72. Self-taught, he built a diversified empire in telecommunications, banking, transport, and insurance, generating over 30 billion CFA francs in annual revenue. Born in Koassa, he started his career with a modest job before founding several companies, including the Planor group, which encompasses around fifteen firms in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Côte d'Ivoire.
