Election poster row erupts in Cape Town as ActionSA takes complaint to IEC

A dispute over election posters has been brought to the IEC after ActionSA requested an investigation into footage showing two people handling its campaign material while putting up Democratic Alliance (DA) posters in Cape Town. The video, posted on September 23, 2026, shows individuals removing ActionSA posters from the pavement to replace them with DA posters. ActionSA claims its posters are being removed by DA teams and has called for more evidence. The complaint comes as campaigning heats up ahead of the November 4, 2026 local elections, shortly after political parties in the Western Cape signed the IEC's Electoral Code of Conduct prohibiting defacement or unlawful removal of posters.
