Somalia sets sail on offshore oil drilling operations in the Indian Ocean

The Somali government has announced that the country's first offshore oil drilling operations are set to commence soon. The Turkish Petroleum Corporation's drilling vessel, Çağrı Bey, on its first international mission, will conduct deep-water drilling at locations identified through recent seismic surveys. Somali Petroleum Minister Dahir Shire described this step as a 'historic milestone' for the country, which could unlock significant offshore oil reserves and aid in Somalia's economic recovery.
