Sudan: UN warns of acts that may amount to genocide.

The United Nations announced Wednesday that the latest report from its Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan provides new evidence that crimes committed in the Sudanese conflict meet the elements of genocide. The report documents extremely brutal attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against civilians, particularly in El-Fasher, Darfur, including massacres, systematic kidnappings of women and girls, and widespread gang rapes. The UN also observes similar patterns of violence in El-Obeid, where a worsening of the situation is feared.
