The South African government has extended the temporary R3-per-litre reduction in the general fuel levy until June 2, 2026, to ease the burden on households and businesses amid rising fuel prices. Diesel users will receive even greater relief, with the levy cut to zero during this period. From June 3, the relief measures will be gradually scaled back, with a full reinstatement of the levy scheduled for July 1.
