Sports CS Salim Mvurya Appoints Carl Tundo as New WRC Safari Rally CEO

Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has appointed legendary Kenyan rally driver Carl Tundo as the new CEO of the WRC Safari Rally Project, effective June 5, 2026. Tundo, a five-time winner of the Safari Rally, replaces Charles Gacheru and will also serve as Secretary of the Oversight Team. He brings decades of motorsport experience, having previously chaired the local organizing committee. His appointment comes as President Ruto announced the 2026 edition will be the last funded by public money.
