Starlink, rivals face Sh15m licence under new telecoms rules

Satellite communication providers, including Starlink, will be required to obtain a licence costing at least Sh15 million under new telecommunications rules. The 15-year IGSS licence will govern firms offering switching infrastructure and network control operations. Starlink, which currently has landing rights in Kenya, will need this licence to roll out its direct-to-cell service in partnership with Airtel.
