Stéphane Mbia: "I was appointed captain of the national team by presidential decree" - Lebledparle

Former Indomitable Lions captain Stéphane Mbia revealed in an interview with Passion Foot Invest that he was appointed captain of the national team by presidential decree while playing for Sevilla FC. He learned of his appointment through a call from the Sports Minister asking him to urgently go to the ministry. Mbia succeeded Samuel Eto'o and was reassured by the coach that the choice was based on his performances. He participated in the 2010 and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.
